Why do you have to take my items to your warehouse? Why not just list them on eBay, but leave the items with me?
We sell hundreds of items each day. And although we'd love to see you again, we couldn't be in business if we had to make multiple visits to your house. Depending on the size of the item we're selling for you, we will either take the item into our possession or photograph it at your home and then arrange for pickup once it is sold. Fortune Garage uses legal sales agreements and item release forms that protect you and your property. Consult with your specialist to determine what is most appropriate.
How long do you list my item for sale on eBay?
Typically, Fortune Garage uses a seven day auction to maximize bidding interest. We are, however, able to do auctions as short as 1 day for items with time constraints (i.e. tickets for sporting events, concerts etc.)
What If I want a Minimum Bid Larger than $1.00?
If your minimum bid is other than $0.99, just pay a refundable deposit of $15.00 for minimum bids over $0.99 and up to $100.00, and $20.00 for minimum bids over $100.00 when we pick the item up. Deposits are refunded when your item is sold!
What if my item doesn't sell during the auction period?
Most items sold on eBay sell within one week, but if an item doesn't sell in the first listing, we will re-list the item a second time. If it still doesn't sell, you will be notified via email and:
- We can ship the item to you or drop your item at your house within 10 days of auction close, OR
- We'll donate your item to charity.
Can I set a minimum selling price for my eBay auction?
Yes. Sellers are able to set an opening bid of $9.99 or higher. However, while minimum opening bids above $9.99 do provide a "safety net" for which an item must sell, they can limit bidding activity.
When can I expect to receive my check?
Typically, you will receive a check approximately 30-45 days from the date we picked up your item. Please note that winning bidders who delay in paying for your item will cause delays in our timing for sending out your check. In addition, occasionally a winning bidder may never pay for your item. In this case, we will cancel the original auction and relist your item for free. Your check amount and payment timing will be based on the results of this new auction.
How does Fortune Garage earn its commission?
Like any retailer, Fortune Garage makes a commission on the items we sell. This fee is used to cover the costs of gasoline, photographing, listing, payment collection, customer service and packing + shipping. Once the item sells, Fortune Garage deducts our commission before sending you a check.
